Question by Kristeeny: Herbalife weight loss consultant?
So I responded to a job/internship offer to be a health consultant for weight loss and helping people get healthy. I went to this “interview” and it was about Herbalife products. The girl who was talking to me said this was all about helping people achieve their weight loss goals, which really appealed to me, and she only briefly talked about the products, as if it wasn’t of the greatest importance. Then I went home and researched Herbalife and found out about how it is a MLM system. The girl didn’t tell me anything about recruiting others (as I know that’s how MLM works). I emailed her and said politely that I didn’t want to be a part of this because MLM wasn’t for me. She called me back and explained that I wasn’t expected to really sell the products but just to help her clients with weight loss challenges and helping people get healthy.
So that’s where I’m stuck, is she saying this because she genuinely wants to help me help others or is it clever wordplay to get me into the Herbalife system? I mean I didn’t pay anything, she paid for the information packet, but I am listed now as a “distributor” and they want me to go to a training session on Saturday.
Any (positive) advice would be lovely.

Good for you doing research!
MLM schemes are all about exploitation.
If you are part of an MLM and don’t believe you exploit members that you recruit, let me ask you this: Why won’t you let the friends that you recruit buy from your upstream provider just like you? Other than getting them started, you offer little of value but take a large chunk out of their sales. In fact, your upstream provider takes a large commission from your downstream sales team, who probably never even know who is your upstream provider. Your upstream provider charges your downstream for no legitimate reason.

The MLM system is design to bring you in, I am sure she means well and may believe in what she is doing, but if it is not for you then it is not for you. DO what you are doing be polite and decline the training & let her know you can not help her out.
Best of Luck

Hi Kristeen,
I don’t know too much about Herbalife but I do know about MLM. It’s possible that she is telling you the truth. While it is important to recruit in MLM, that’s not the entire business… and if it is then FIND A NEW MLM! A legitimate MLM does not rely soley on recruitment. They should also have awesome products.
Your upline should not have any problem with you wanting to sell the products only and not recruit. We do that in our company and people have great success. Our products are the bread and butter of the company and our mission is to help people live happier and healthier lives. I suspect that the woman you spoke with was sincere with you.
Good Luck!

Herballife is just another supplemental MLM… there are literally thousands of them out there… ugh…
A pastor friend of mine about a month ago told me about a company that was being started by a group of People from Excel… (look it up)
When it comes to business you have to research trends in high income industries… well, the wireless communications industry (AKA- cell phones) is a 4 TRILLION dollar industry worldwide, and 150 BILLION in the US alone- the best part is this: 80% of this market is about to shift… from contract phones to prepay!… Mr. Griffin, a man that I highly respect, approached me about a company, People Helping People INC. One sector (out of 5) of the compensation plan alone is attracting multi-millionaires of MLM. I am on an executive level in this company and anyone on my downline before friday (pre-enrollment) will be on the executive level as well!
Think about it… being at the right place at the right time… in the right business industry at the right time… We are ready to take off, and it will be a blast off!!!
